NAGRADA DR. SC. NIKOLINI UDIKOVIĆ - KOLIĆ

Naša mlada znanstvenica, dr. sc. Nikolina Udiković Kolić, kćerka pok. vlasnika elektroobrta Udiković, koja radi na Institutu "Ruđer Bošković", dobila je još 2017. godine donaciju vrijednu 120 tisuća kuna, za projekt "Proučavanje povezanosti zagađenja antibioticima i razvoja rezistencije na antibiotike u ljudskih patogena", da bi sada njen rad bio dodatno valoriziran.
Nikolina, koja je inače voditeljica Laboratorija za okolišnu mikrobiologiju i biotehnologiju Zavoda za istraživanje mora i okoliša, dobila je godišnju nagradu Zaklade prof. dr. sc. Branimir Jernej za 2019. godinu. Još prilikom dobivanja donacije pojasnila je da se borba protiv antibiotičke rezistencije ubraja u prioritete Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije.
„Od posebne je važnosti vodeni okoliš koji je pod utjecajem zagađenja antibioticima putem otpadnih voda iz farmaceutske industrije, jer takve otpadne vode mogu sadržavati smjese antibiotika u visokim koncentracijama. Zato okoliš izložen ispustu ovakvog otpada predstavlje "vruće točke" za umnožavanje postojećih i razvoj novih gena za antibiotičku rezistenciju, te time predstavlja potencijalnu opasnost za zdravlje ljudi" istaknula je Nikolina Udiković-Kolić.
Nikolina je biotehnologinja koja radi kao viša znanstvena suradnica i voditeljica Laboratorija za mikrobiologiju i biotehnologiju u okolišu na Institutu Ruđer Bošković u Zagrebu.
Doktorirala je molekularnu biotehnologiju na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu za istraživanje mikrobnih zajednica sposobnih razgraditi herbicide s- trinazina.
Tijekom doktorskog studija na Sveučilištu Yale u SAD-u, proširila je svoje istraživačke interese na otpornost na antibiotike u okolišu pod utjecajem intenzivne poljoprivredne prakse.
Tijekom posljednjih 5 godina, njezina se istraživačka skupina fokusirala na pitanja koja se bave ulogom farmaceutskih otpadnih voda u razvoju i širenju otpornosti na antibiotike u vodenom okolišu koji prima. Što reći nego – čestitke Nikolina.
